Uniform Policy

SCHOOL UNIFORM AND APPEARANCE POLICY:

PURPOSE:
PISJ-ES believes a safe and disciplined learning environment is the first requirement of a high performing school. The implementation of school uniform helps minimize disruptive behavior, promotes respect for oneself and others, build school/community spirit, and more significantly, helps to maintain high academic standards, while lessening the impact of socioeconomic differences.
GENERAL STATEMENT OF POLICY: It is mandatory for the parents to support the school in encouraging all the pupils to wear proper school uniform. Uniform gives a sense of pride and commitment to the values of PISJ-ES.
Play Group to Y2:
• Pastel Pink collared shirt with school logo for Girls
• Pastel Blue collared shirt with school logo for Boys
• Navy Blue Jogging Pants
• Plain white/Black sneakers or shoes
• White socks and vest.
Boys Y3-5
• White collared shirts with logo (long or short sleeves)
• Grey dress pants, Maroon Tie, plain white socks
• Plain black shoes (Flat rubber sole)
• Plain Blue Blazer
• Simple Black belts (no fancy buckles)
• P.E: Navy blue jogging pants, white loose polo T-Shirt with school logo, plain white/black sneakers, plain white vest.
Girls Y3-5
• Grey Shirt (Full Sleeve-knee length)
• White shalwar, Maroon Sash, plain white socks
• Plain black shoes ( Flat rubber sole)
• Plain Maroon Jersey
• Plain black Abaya/Scarf
• P.E: Navy blue jogging pants, white loose polo T-Shirt with school logo, plain white/black sneakers, plain white inner.
Boys Y6-11

Girls Y12-13

ENFORCEMENT:

1. Students must adhere to proper hygiene. Boys’ hair must be cut short and neat where as Girls’ long hair must be braided/tied up neatly.
2. Shirts (other than P.E) must be tucked in.
3. Vests must be worn under formal as well as P.E uniforms, which may not be visible at any time. However, students may wear T-shirts under collared shirts which should be plain white.
4. No see-through or mesh/revealing cloths shall be allowed.
5. Clothing shall be worn appropriately (correctly sized; no rolled up sleeves, etc.).
6. No baggy or sagging pants or shorts are allowed. No “low rise” clothing is allowed.
7. All belts must be plain and buckled at all times.
8. Polished shoes shall be worn at all times.
9. Shoes that have laces shall be laced and tied.
10. All children must bring a plain unhooded sweater, sweatshirt, or vest including those made out of lightweight fleece material to school.
11. Abayas may not be worn inside the classrooms. They may be worn during a class change if the student is exiting the building.
12. Abayas may be worn to school and placed in the student’s bag/locker.
13. Students may not wear large conspicuous adornments.
14. No headwear/ bandanas and no sunglasses shall be worn inside school buildings.
15. Whilst we expect all pupils to adhere to this uniform policy we are sensitive to the needs of different students. Therefore should girls be required to cover their heads then a scarf may be worn but must be plain white/black.
16. All items of clothing must be clearly labeled with the pupil’s name.
17. Girls, who have pierced ears, may wear small studs to school but these must be removed for PE. If newly pierced, then studs must be covered with tape during any PE activity. Anything else could be dangerous and lead to accidents during PE lessons or in the playground. This is PISJ-ES policy. No other jewelry is permitted except inexpensive watches. No makeup or nail colours allowed.
18. *Reasonable consideration shall be made for those students who, because of a valid medical reason, request a waiver of a particular guideline for dress or appearance. The waiver request shall be in writing from the parent or guardian, with an additional document from medical officials, and approved by the principal.

Note: Cell phones, cameras, electronic devices, gadgets, toys, firecrackers etc are strictly NOT allowed.
DISCIPLINARY MEASURES:

Disciplinary action would be taken for violation of the School Uniform and Appearance.

First Offense: Students will be verbally informed that they have violated the policy.
Second Offense: A second infraction of the policy may be considered as defiance. Students will be informed through a warning letter that they have violated the policy.
Third (and additional) Offenses: In addition to the disciplinary actions available for a first two offenses, a third or additional infraction of the policy would result in a parent/guardian conference may be held by sending a written admonition.

*Disciplinary action may vary when a student has a record of other student conduct violations during the current school year.
*Students who do not comply with the School Uniform and Appearance Policy also may be excluded from participating in certain school programs, including graduation ceremonies.
*Students new to PISJ-ES will be given a two week grace period from enrollment to obtain and wear the proper school uniforms.
